Regional Councillor Candidate
Putting taxpayers first. Politics second.
“I want my kids to be proud to call Brampton home.”
Why I’m Running
I’ve lived in Brampton since 2007.
I’m running because I believe taxpayers deserve representatives who ask questions, demand accountability, and make sure public money is spent wisely.
I don’t want to be a career politician.
I want to be your representative.
My Priorities
Traffic
Traffic affects every resident.
I want practical solutions that improve road safety, reduce congestion, and make intersections safer through better technology, smarter planning, and greater accountability.
Housing
Brampton needs more housing.
But we also need better housing.
I support practical housing solutions including townhomes, co-ops, and medium-density neighbourhoods that give families more affordable options while protecting the character of existing communities.
Accountability
Before starting new projects, let’s make sure we’re completing the ones we’ve already paid for.
Residents deserve to know:
- What projects cost
- Why they’re delayed
- Whether they’re delivering value
Every tax dollar should be treated like it came from your own wallet.
About Mike
- Brampton resident since 2007
- Husband and father
- Small business owner
- Content creator
- Community advocate

Summary of your responses:
Q002 • Brampton should slow new development, even if doing so comes at the expense of its economic growth.
Your Position: Strongly agree
Supporting Statement: We have too many incomplete projects under contract to a single contractor. There is no need to start any new projects until we complete the ones that have been started already.
Q003 • Brampton should do more to combat climate change.
Your Position: Somewhat agree
Supporting Statement: It’s not that the city needs to combat climate change but that we need to be prepared for it. Flooding will only increase and the city needs to be ready for it.
Q006 • Municipal workers are paid too much.
Your Position: Somewhat disagree
Supporting Statement: Brampton employees are the backbone of this city and it makes sense to pay them appropriately to show our thanks for their hard work. I would like to ensure that the employees hired are city residents and not from other neighbouring towns.
Q007 • Private contractors are more efficient than municipal workers at delivering most municipal services.
Your Position: Strongly disagree
Supporting Statement: We have multiple projects in the middle of construction and none of them are being worked on. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve driven past a construction site on a sunny weekday afternoon and it’s deserted. These projects are dragging on for years at a snails pace.
Q008 • The mayor should never overturn council decisions.
Your Position: Strongly agree
Supporting Statement: the councillors speak for their constituents.
Q010 • Municipal buildings in Brampton should fly the Pride flag during Pride month.
Your Position: Somewhat agree
Supporting Statement: If we can fly flags from other countries, we can fly the Pride Flag
Q012 • Every municipal council meeting should begin with an acknowledgement of Indigenous peoples’ ties to the land.
Your Position: Somewhat agree
Supporting Statement: Not provided
Q013 • Brampton should keep historic street names and statues, even if they commemorate people who some would consider racist by today’s standards.
Your Position: Somewhat agree
Supporting Statement: Not provided
Q021 • Brampton should try to keep property taxes low, even if it means fewer services for residents.
Your Position: Strongly agree
Supporting Statement: Not provided
Q022 • Brampton should rely more on fees for specific services rather than raising taxes to pay for them.
Your Position: Strongly agree
Supporting Statement: Not provided
Q026 • Brampton should apply an additional tax to vacant homes.
Your Position: Somewhat agree
Supporting Statement: If a house is vacant for more than 90 days and not being maintained then fines should be applied as opposed to a tax.
Q028 • Brampton should encourage more multi-unit housing in neighbourhoods that are currently made up mostly of single-family homes.
Your Position: Strongly disagree
Supporting Statement: I’d like to see the opposite. People bought these homes to raise their families. We have kids playing in the streets. There is no need to mix up single family neighbourhoods. I’d rather see new development of Co-Ops and medium density neighbourhoods. Single family home areas aren’t designed to handle a large influx of traffic that multi-units bring.
Q029 • Brampton should protect existing green space, even if doing so limits new housing development.
Your Position: Strongly agree
Supporting Statement: Climate change is here and if we don’t have green space, the city will be experience more flooding.
Q039 • Brampton should protect historic buildings, even if this prevents owners from making certain renovations.
Your Position: Strongly disagree
Supporting Statement: Not provided
Q047 • Brampton should cover the cost of programs for low-income residents, even if this means other residents pay more.
Your Position: Somewhat disagree
Supporting Statement: It depends on the programs.
Q050 • Brampton should reduce speed limits on residential streets, even if it increases commute times.
Your Position: Somewhat agree
Supporting Statement: Noone pays attention to speed limits in this town anyway. I’d like to see more speed bumps in front of school zones.
Q055 • Brampton should install more bike lanes.
Your Position: Somewhat disagree
Supporting Statement: The city doesn’t need more bike lanes as we have a robust trail system that is even faster for cyclists to take from one point to another. I’d rather see wider sidewalks to accommodate mixed uses.
Q060 • Brampton should increase the presence of police officers downtown.
Your Position: Somewhat disagree
Supporting Statement: We don’t need police officers downtown, we need police officers enforcing traffic laws in other parts of the city.
Q061 • How much should Brampton spend on policing?
Your Position: Somewhat less
Supporting Statement: The Peel region police chief is paid as if he’s running a billion dollar company. In reality, he’s running a billion dollar loss. We should pay him according to the income that is brought in.
Q064 • Brampton should respond to public drug use with support services rather than police enforcement.
Your Position: Somewhat agree
Supporting Statement: Not provided
Q065 • Brampton should spend more money to provide shelter spaces for people experiencing homelessness.
Your Position: Somewhat agree
Supporting Statement: Personally I wouldn’t focus on the money being spent on shelter but I’d rather see the city focus on zoning an area where we can assemble temporary housing to help people get back on their feet and integrated into society. This is a topic that would require more than a paragraph to answer.
Q067 • People experiencing homelessness should be prevented from setting up encampments in public spaces.
Your Position: Strongly agree
Supporting Statement: Not provided
Q068 • Brampton should do more to prevent landlords from evicting tenants in order to raise rents.
Your Position: Somewhat disagree
Supporting Statement: There are laws already in place for this. I’d rather see the city rezone houses that are being used as rooming homes and tax them as apartments. We have too many slumlords in this city.
Q069 • Brampton should strictly enforce safety rules for rental housing, even if this means some units can no longer be rented out.
Your Position: Strongly agree
Supporting Statement: People buy homes to raise a family in. They don’t buy single family dwellings to live next to a flop house.
Q071 • Property developers should pay a greater share of the cost of road, water, and energy infrastructure needed to support new housing construction.
Your Position: Strongly agree
Supporting Statement: Not provided
Q074 • Brampton should spend more on flood prevention, even if it means higher taxes or utility fees.
Your Position: Strongly agree
Supporting Statement: Not provided
Q075 • Brampton should spend more on public libraries.
Your Position: Somewhat agree
Supporting Statement: I’d rather see less expansion of library buildings but more expansion of library services. If the library card be tied into city services, we could use the card to be used as a ‘One Brampton’ card that would allow access to buildings after hours for late night use.
Q101 • Brampton should spend more on social housing, even if it means tax increases or cuts to other services.
Your Position: Strongly disagree
Supporting Statement: Not provided
Q102 • Brampton should spend more to improve its public transit service, even if doing so leads to higher fares.
Your Position: Somewhat disagree
Supporting Statement: Not provided
Q103 • Brampton should allocate more of its budget to improving roads, even if it means less funding for other core services.
Your Position: Strongly agree
Supporting Statement: One issue with Brampton roads is that they encourage speeding. The city needs more roundabouts to curb aggressive driving.
